As chao age there pesonality determins what they like best, eg run could be higher then power so it would rather be a run type.
Hatching
The best way to hatch an egg is to pick it up and shake it. To do this pick up the egg while holding the B/X button and move the anolog thumb pad in any direction. You can also throw the egg against the wall or wait for it to hatch. When your Chao hatches it will be light
blue and have a face that it will have for the rest of its life, or until it's reborn.
Faces
Like I said, when you hatch a Chao it
will have a face it will have until it is reborn. Here are a few of the faces and how to get them.
Happy Face: Don't touch the egg. Let it hatch on its own.
Normal Face: Shake the egg for about 5 seconds.
Evil Face: Throw the egg against the wall.
Upside-Down Evil Grin: Supposedly you
have to jump around the garden with the egg for 2-5 minutes and put it back down (or throw it at the wall). I never got this Chao face.
Normal chao first evolutions
Once a Chao has hatched you can then give it animals to transform it. The way it transforms depends on what animals you give to your Chao. You can not give your Chao 2 kinds of animals. So if you give your Chao green animals and then only give it purple animals it will turn into a purple jester Chao. You have to give it animals from both hero and dark characters equally for it to stay neutral. Once it evolves it will turn into one of the Chao below.
Alien Chao
Animals: Yellow
Looks like a greenish alien.
Purple Jester Chao
Animals: Purple
Looks like a purple jester.
Green Spike Chao
Animals: Green
Looks green with horns on the back of its head and back.
